Prescott Nature Photography
The pronghorn (more commonly known as antelope) in this portfolio were photographed at the base of Granite Mountain near Prescott Arizona. While on a hiking trail not far from our house my wife and I came upon a dozen of these beautiful creatures close to the trail. To make things even better they were right in a patch of late summer sunflowers that provided added beauty to the photographic composition. Hoping against hope we went back to the house, got my camera and drove down to the trail head a mile away. My expectation was that by now other hikers would have spooked the animals back up the mountain. To my surprise no one had yet been by and some of the antelope were now actually on the trail with the others close by. I have been taking pictures of these guys for 30 years. I don't think it will ever get better than this. But then that is the anticipation of nature photography - just when you think it can't get any better, it does. Equipment used was a Nikon D7000 with a Tamron 150-600mm lens.
